About “L'Étape”

Étape is a French word, meaning “stage”, represents Le Tour de France amateur race. It is a one-day race designed by Le Tour de France experts, to give the amateur cyclists an opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere of Le Tour de France. The L’Étape du Tour, created in 1993, is the world's largest amateur cycling race. It attracts around 15,000 cyclists and fans from more than 70 countries each year. To give worldwide fans such unique experience, organizers of Le Tour de France considerately set L’Étape in many other countries. To date, L’Étape has travelled to Australia, Great Britain, United States, Brazil, Mexico, etc.

Now, L’Étape has come to China. We will inherit its original intention and tradition by providing a long-distance track completely closed to public traffic and creating a real professional cycling race atmosphere, thus to have the amateurs experience for themselves what it is like to ride in the Tour de France.

L’Étape is not only a sporting arena, but also a tourist adventure on the bike. Le Tour de France Events in China  will select some classic domestic cycling routes, either flat or twisted, which enable cyclists to explore the beautiful landscape on the bike. Along these routes, riders can experience various regional customs of different cities, and also feel the profound cultural heritage of this country.
