v. Entry

(1) To participate in The Race, you must be 16-60 years old (born between January 17th 1961 and January 17th 2005), to participate in The Ride, you must be 16-55 years old (born between January 17th 1966 and January 17th 2005) all participants are required to provide a health certificate or a physical examination report issued by a registered medical institution certifying that you are physically fit to participate in the race.
(2) People suffering from the following are deemed unfit to participate in the race:
a. congenital or rheumatic heart disease;
b. hypertension or cerebrovascular disease;
c. myocarditis or other cardiac diseases;
d. coronary artery disease or serious arrhythmia;
e. diabetes or hypoglycemia;
f.  cold within two weeks before the race;
g. pregnant;
h. any other risk-prone diseases.

vi. Notes for Participants
(1) Risks of cycling: though the race is undertaken in closed roads, potential safety risks as road damages, missing manhole covers, and mechanical bike malfunctions are not excluded. All participants must pay close attention to the road condition and ensure the safety of him/her and others. All participants should also control the speed when encountering downhill. Riding backwards is forbidden all along the route.
(2) Requirements for protective equipment: all participants must wear bike helmets, otherwise will be disqualified. Participants are suggested to wear the jersey provided by the OC as well as cycling pants and gloves for a more comfortable experience.
(3) Drinking/feeding stations: the OC will set drinking and feeding stations along the route. The exact locations will be distributed to the participants along with the package before the race.
(4) Mechanical assistance: a mechanical assistance is available for participants all along the route at set locations and on a mobile basis. The service is free of charge to participants, but a fee is charged for any materials used for repairs.

vii. Rules of the Races
(1) The race is subject to the latest Rules of Union Cycliste Internationale.
(2) Cyclists’ race numbers (bibs) will be arranged and distributed by the Organizing Committee.
(3) All the participants must present themselves for a roll call at the start zone and assemble at the designated area based on the bib number at 7:30 on January 17th. The races start at 8:30.
(4) The podium attenders of Individual Classification are the first three riders to cross the finish line, the Best Young Rider Classification winner goes to the young rider with shortest net time, and the overall rankings are decided by net time. The KOM and Sprint Classification are awarded to the riders with shortest net time between corresponding timing spots (please refer to the Route,The podium atthenders should finish within 1 hours from winner finished).
(5) Only riders with road bikes are qualified as award candidates for Individual Classification of The Race while riders with other types of bikes will be timed and listed in overall rankings only.
*Road bike refers to the type that is officially recognized by UCI road bike mass start races.
(6) The Ride is timed，But no ranking.
(7) It is strictly forbidden to participate in the race with:
▪ An electric bicycle or electrically assisted pedal cycle;
▪ Fixed gear;
▪ A recumbent or prone bicycle;
▪ A bicycle equipped with any kind of extension (including but not limited to triathlon bars);
▪ Sharing bikes.

(8) Time limit of the races:
To ensure a successful and safe race, a time limit both for the race and the transportation will be set to the race. The public transportation will open again after the limit time. Any participants who haven’t finished the race within the time limit should stop and quit the course for safety reasons. Those who quit the race will take the escort coaches provided by OC to the finish zone. The time limits will be published on the official website.

viii. Awards
The following awards will be decided and granted to male and female riders separately.
(1) The Race
▪ Individual Classification – Winner, 2nd place & 3rd place; Winner will get the trophy.
▪ Points Classification – Winner will get the trophy.
▪ Best Climber Classification -- Winner will get the trophy.
▪ Best Young Rider Classification -- Winner will get the trophy.( This award is only for riders born after January 17th, 1996)
▪ The female and male Individual Classification winners will be awarded the free entrance to 2021 L'Étape Championship in France. The accommodation is covered while the flight tickets will be self-afforded.（The quota is not transferable and will be postponed automatically if winner cannot participate.）

(2) The Ride
The Ride is timed, But not ranking.
Any participant who completes the races within the time limit will be awarded a medal. The certificate of result will be available for self-printing on the official website 24 hours after the race. Please download the certificate within 30 days. Results will be available for check 24 hours after the race.

ix. Package collecting:
After successful registration for the race, please collect your race package with your valid ID of yours. If due to personal reasons, the organizing committee does not provide delivery or delay collecting service. Minors shall be accompanied by their legal guardians to collect package on the spot.

x. Punishment
The Organizing Committee will arrange judges at the start, along the whole course and at the finish. In case any participant has committed any of the following offences at any time during the race, the Organizing Committee will disqualify such participant from the race, or order a one-or-two-year suspension or a lifetime ban circumstantially:
(1) Age or identity fabrication;
(2) Racing with more than one chip per person (also including the possibility of one participant wearing timing chip(s) of the other gender);
(3) Do not suspend the timing chip in accordance with the regulations, or disassemble the timing chip without authorization.
(4) Completing the race in relays;
(5) Not following the start order and/or start at non-designated area;
(6) Not obeying the rules at the starting line;
(7) Continuing racing after cutoff time or re-entering the course after dropping out of the race;
(8) Not racing along the designated course, taking a shortcut or hitching a ride;
(9) Crossing the finish line repeatedly or not completing the whole distance but crossing the finish line to get the medal;
(10) Forging the bib number, using the bib number of other races, not wearing the bib number, or wearing a timing chip of other races to finish the race;
(11) Altering or shielding the bib number, or transferring the bib number to another individual;
(12) Not following event staff or disturbing the race order; gathering a crowd and making disturbances or fighting and brawling;
(13) Other behaviors against the rules.
Consequences arising during the race from enrolling by age or identity fabrication or transferring bib number to another individual shall be borne solely by the personnel involved.

xi.  Arbitration
Those who disagree with the results and the course of the competition may submit an arbitration application to the organizing committee within 72 hours after the race, and pay a 200 yuan arbitration fee (if the secondary appeal is successful, the arbitration fee will be refunded. If the appeal fails, the arbitration fee will not be given return).

xii. Insurance
The Organizing Committee will take out insurance for all participants and staff（Bicycle insurance is not included. Riders are advised to insure themselves）.

xiii. Technical Officials, Technical Representatives & Judges
The technical officials, technical representatives and judges will be appointed by Chinese Cycling Association.

xiv. Issues not covered herein are subject to further notices and updates.

xv. If the event is postponed or cancelled due to force majeure, the entry fee will not be refunded. The organizing committee shall not be liable for any loss of yours.

xvi. Registration will not be accepted within 7 days from middle and high risk areas in China or from overseas.

xvii. The rights of interpretation of this race are vested in the Organizing Committee of L'Étape Nujiang by Tour de France presented by YEIG.

Transportation refund insurance policy

Riders are suggested to purchase refund insurance when booking an air ticket or a train ticket. If the race is postponed due to the COVID-19 situation, riders can apply for the refund on the basis of the refund insurance content. 1 Self-driving

Riders can drive to Lushui City, navigate to “Lushui Tongxin Square”.

2 By plane

Riders can arrive at Baoshan Airport by plane. There are direct flights to Baoshan Airport in major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and contestants can also choose to transfer in Kunming; Kunming Changshui International Airport arranges about 10 flights every day to Baoshan Airport. Please arrange your itinerary reasonably.

2.1 There are 2 ways for riders to get to Lushui City after arriving at Baoshan Airport.

2.1.1Car rental

Riders can contact the car rental company around the airport to rent a car to Lushui City. It is recommended to use the car rental app to make reservations in advance.

2.1.2 By bus

Riders can take a bus to Lushui City. The following is a recommended transportation strategy for bus travel.

TIPS: If riders decide to take a bus to Lushui City, it is recommended to send the bicycle to Lushui in advance.

1. How to register for L’Étape Nujiang by Le Tour de France?

Log on the official website of Le Tour de France China Events（http://www.china-letour.com/letape） by mobile phone or PC to complete the registration online.

2.  Should I re-register for the website if I did before?

No, you can just log in with the mobile phone number. Due to the update of the official website, please check your personal information first, and then you can register the race.

3. Can personal basic information be changed after successful registration?

Once submitted, your personal information, such as your name, ID Card No., gender and date of birth, cannot be changed. Please check carefully before submitting your information.

4. When does the registration start? The difference between early bird and normal registration?

Registration is open from 18:00 December 8th to 18:00 December 16th.

5. How to know whether the registration is successful or not?

There are three ways to confirm the registration: 1. The system will send an email to inform the successful registration; 2. Log on the website to check if the registration is successful；3. The mobile phone number which used to register will receive a message about the successful registration.

6. Is group registration is acceptable?

No, each individual participant has to register on their own.

7.  Can I change race category after registration online?

No. You cannot change the race category after completing the registration.

8.  Can I get refund for giving up the race after registration confirmed?

11. How to collect the Welcome bag?

After your registration is confirmed, you need to take your ID card (which was used to register the race) to the Village on the day before the race. The staff will check the ID number, and then, you can collect the Welcome bag. Notice: The Welcome bag can only be collected by the participant who used the ID number to register, and no one can represent others for collecting the Welcome bag.

12. Are there any requirements for the participating bicycle models?

You can log on the website: http://www.china-letour.com/letape/rule. There are detailed directions about the participating bicycle models.

13. Is bicycle insurance included in the insurance for the participant?

The Organizing Committee will take out insurance for all participants and staff（Bicycle insurance is not included. Riders are advised to insure themselves）.

14. Is a physical examination necessary to participate in L’Étape Nujiang by Le Tour de France ?

You can register after confirming you are physically healthy or have long-term exercises or basic training for the race. After the registration is successful, you are required to get a physical health certificate at a registered medical institution.

15. Is the road closed to traffic during the race?

Throughout the entire race, as for the professional riders in the Tour de France, you will ride on a road which is closed to traffic. However, a time limit will be set up to ensure the road be open again at a specific time. After the time, the road will resume. The time schedule will be available later on the Wechat Official Account. The Wechat ID is ‘letourofficial’

16. What should I do if I retire or if I am eliminated?

The “time schedule” vehicle follows a precise time schedule. Any rider who is overtaken by this vehicle at any point during the race, will be considered eliminated. If you retire, you should leave the track for being safe, and wait for the “time schedule” vehicle. If you are eliminated, you should follow the instructions, a bus/truck will take you and your bicycle to the finish village.

17. Is there any storage service before the race？

Yes, it is free of charge before the race.

18.  Is there any souvenir?

Each participant who finishes the race within time limitation will be awarded with  a medal, and will be able to download the participation certificate on official website after the race is finished.

19. The finish point of the race is away from the start point, is there any shuttle service from the finish to the start?

The committee will arrange shuttle buses for riders to return to the start point after the race is finished.

20. Is there a photo service?

The information of photo service will be published on the Wechat Official Account, please take notice of it.

21. When will the results be published?

The results will be available to check after the race on official website and Wechat Official Account. You will be able to download the finisher certificate in your personal account on Tour de France Events in China.
